In response I would say that is both yes and no. Why no? Because many, in not most, of the attributes, behaviors and knowledge of Positive Deviants are innate. That is, they are not recognized by the PD as key factors to their well above average success.

The answer is Yes because some people have developed specific methods and processes to harvest the wisdom from the PDs. The process must also include recognizing the TBU information ("True But Useless") material that is not transferable from the material that is transferable. Once the transferable material has been identified then some method of transferring to others must be incorporated. Generally this has been done in some form of in person training.

I work for one such company, Empowergy which has developed an effect method of rapidly harvesting the material from a group of PDs, then cataloging and organizing the material into a structuring software system and then the material is transferred to the rest within a people in domain of focus within a company. The transfer process is done remotely with the guidance of a coach. The coaching process takes only 30 minutes per week and, for us, is a critical piece of the predicable nature of our system.

We are now exploring using our system in education with both teachers and administrators. As well as in areas as diverse as helping people living in villages to increase the use of mosquito nets to reduce malaria.

Feel free to contact us for more info. I only found your blog accidentally.

Forrist Lytehaause - 719-635-2000 - forrist (at) empowergyinc.com
